Feels like society is being pushed this way not just in fashion but all of life. There is less color. More grays. More squares. People being pushed to the edge financially so they have no time for play. McDonald’s is the best example I can think of. Comparing it from when I was a kid to now. The play places don’t exist anymore. The colors are gone. The mascots don’t exist anymore.

I feel like there’s a shift happening in the fashion space where people recognize they want their “quality/forever pieces” but they also want to stand out and not look like everyone else. That’s at least my personal fashion journey right now. It’s so evident that everyone is purchasing the same styles bc that’s what brands push out, but I do think there’s a group of outliers that are recognizing hmm maybe I don’t want to look like everyone else anymore, I want to be unique. I will say that evolution in dressing does depend on your life circumstances, though, as you so eloquently described. Very interesting social discussion!
